The City of Montgomery is issuing an indoor mask advisory in accordance with the guidance released by the Centers for Disease Control on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. The dominant presence of the Delta variant is causing an increase in positive COVID-19 cases across the country. Cases in Montgomery are at levels not seen since February 2021. On Wednesday, June 16th, children from our summer program got to participate in an Outdoor Adventure Day at Gateway Park! Activities included horseback riding, a slip-n-slide, archery, paddle boats and kayaks along with a fishing demonstration put on by several game wardens from the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division! There was water available at each activity and snow cones provided to help keep all of the children cool! Fun was had by all! Thanks to theParks and Recreation staff for putting this together for all of the children that have registered for the summer program.

MONTGOMERY – Frontline workers, first-responders and public safety professionals in Montgomery will see more money in their paychecks for the first time in several years. Mayor Steven L. Reed revised the City of Montgomery’s pay plan to align employee compensation with that offered by comparable cities and organizations. This will result in substantial salary increases for the Montgomery Police Department, Montgomery Fire/Rescue, Sanitation, Street Maintenance and all City employees. Friends of Montgomery Clean City Commission, a program of the City of Montgomery’s Neighborhood Services Department, received a grant in the amount of $7,500 to purchase educational bin decals which will be placed on city-issued rollout containers. This project was funded by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management through a grant from the Alabama Recycling Fund.
