On Wednesday, June 16th, children from our summer program got to participate in an Outdoor Adventure Day at Gateway Park! Activities included horseback riding, a slip-n-slide, archery, paddle boats and kayaks along with a fishing demonstration put on by several game wardens from the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division! There was water available at each activity and snow cones provided to help keep all of the children cool! Fun was had by all! Thanks to theParks and Recreation staff for putting this together for all of the children that have registered for the summer program.

MONTGOMERY – Frontline workers, first-responders and public safety professionals in Montgomery will see more money in their paychecks for the first time in several years. Mayor Steven L. Reed revised the City of Montgomery’s pay plan to align employee compensation with that offered by comparable cities and organizations. It’s an initiative we hope to expand each year.”

Friends of Montgomery Clean City Commission, a program of the City of Montgomery’s Neighborhood Services Department, received a grant in the amount of $7,500 to purchase educational bin decals which will be placed on city-issued rollout containers. This project was funded by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management through a grant from the Alabama Recycling Fund.
