Grinnell Woman Sentenced to Prison for Jefferson Incident

A Grinnell woman was recently sentenced to prison for a Jefferson incident. According to court documents, 31-year-old Sharlee Royce pled guilty to a Class C Felony for first degree criminal mischief, two Class D Felonies for second degree theft and third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine, and a serious misdemeanor for trespassing. Royce was sentenced to ten years in prison for the C Felony charge, five years in prison for each of the D Felonies and one year in jail for the misdemeanor charge, with the sentences to be served concurrently.

13-year-old Grinnell boy charged with attempted murder in stabbing

GRINNELL, Iowa — A 13-year-old boy is facing an attempted murder charge following a stabbing on Saturday morning in Grinnell. Police officers received a call just before 8 a.m., leading them to respond to a home on Melrose Lane. A 43-year-old man was found inside the home injured by a stab wound to the abdomen. The man was taken to Unity Point Grinnell Regional Medical Center, where he's expected to recover.
