Unexpected wind/rain storm damages Sunset Post Office roof

The Sunset Post Office had its roof torn off Tuesday evening as an unexpected storm blew up about 4:15 p.m. causing damage in the Lake Bridgeport area and northward along Highway 101. No one was reportedly injured at the post office, but water was coming in the building. No additional information was available. (Photo by Barbara Green)

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is reminding shoppers they can save money on clothes and school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday on Aug. 6-8. State law exempts sales tax on qualified items — such as clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks — priced below $100, saving shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend. The date of the sales tax holiday and list of tax-exempt items are set by the Texas Legislature.
