Two Dead Following a Car Crash in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Ohio — Two people are dead after a vehicle crashed into their apartment building in Woodsfield on Wednesday. According to Fire Chief Mike Young, a resident of the Monroe Manor Apartments sped through the parking lot, jumped over a parking barrier, and crashed through the elderly couple’s apartment.

Special events: Gates open on Monroe, Wood county fairs

Two county fairs open their gates this weekend. The Monroe County Fair starts Sunday and continues through Aug. 6 at the Monroe County Fairgrounds, 3775 S. Custer Rd. It features special rides, musical performances, demolition derbies, and much more. Gate admission on the first day is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and younger. RABIES VACCINE – The USDA and Plant Health Inspection Service’s Wildlife Services Program will drop oral rabies vaccine bait to immunize wild raccoons in eastern Ohio counties. Baiting will occur in Mahoning, Portage, Columbiana, Portage, Carroll, Ashtabula, Belmont, Geauga, Harrison, Jefferson, Lake, Monroe and Trumbull counties. The USDA announced drops will occur Aug. 1-23 from low-flying, fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. Recreational plans discussed for Monroe County industrial park

Two people rescued from Lake Erie early Sunday morning in Monroe County
