Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the arrest of two on Thursday

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reporting arrests Thursday evening, July 22, 2021, in Daviess and Caldwell counties. A man from Tomball, Texas, 39-year-old Harry Hicks, was taken on a 24-hour hold to the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail. The highway patrol in Daviess County accused Hicks of resisting arrest, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and driving while intoxicated. He’s also accused of driving a commercial vehicle while allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance. Other accusations are careless and imprudent driving, driving without a valid commercial driver’s license, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Excelsior Springs man injured in Daviess County motorcycle accident

DAVIESS COUNTY — An Excelsior Springs man was injured in a Daviess County motorcycle accident Thursday morning. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, 51-year-old Leslie K. Keasling was driving a Harley Davidson eastbound on Missouri Route 6, just west of Jamesport around 10:45 a.m. Thursday. His motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the right side of the roadway.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Reports for July 22, 2021

This is a compilation of reports released by the Pettis County Sheriff's Office:. On July 18 at 12:34 a.m., the Pettis County K9 unit, with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Sedalia Police, conducted a traffic stop at Graham Drive and Clinton Road on a vehicle failing to display license plates. During the traffic stop, the driver, identified as Scott W. Mathis of Cole Camp, threw a crystal substance out the window. Mathis was then arrested for driving while suspended, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.

Tractor Trailer Overturns on I-70, Injuring New Jersey Man

A tractor trailer that overturned on I-70 brought westbound traffic to a halt late Thursday morning in Saline County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2012 Freightliner, driven by 37-year-old Andree J. Gavilan of Saddle Brook, New Jersey, was on I-70 at the 63.4 mile marker (between Emma and Sweet Springs) at 11:30 a.m., when another vehicle cut him off and Gavilan attempted to avoid impact by steering to the right and braking, causing the vehicle to skid. The Freightliner then traveled off the right side of the roadway, returned to the roadway, and overturned, coming to rest on its side.
