Discovery of dead body at Mississippi school’s football field house prompts investigation

Officials at a Mississippi school were shocked Thursday morning when they discovered a dead body inside the school’s football field house. Natchez Police Chief Joseph Daughtry said investigators are still working the case, but believe the dead person apparently was attempting to break into the field house near the stadium at Cathedral High School in Natchez and fell through the roof to their death.

51-Year-Old Inmate Dies in Custody in Mississippi

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — A 51-year-old inmate has died after being found unresponsive in his cell at the Forrest County Adult Detention Center, authorities said. A corrections officer doing a visual safety and security check Wednesday around 11:30 p.m. found Jetson Shows, of Petal, unresponsive, the Forrest County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Shows was pronounced dead at 11:54 p.m. after medical staff were unable to revive him, authorities said.
