Concord & Kannapolis Police Investigate Missing 27-Year-Old Jordan Smith

CONCORD, N.C. – Another missing woman from our area to tell you about. 27-year-old Jordan Smith hasn’t been seen since April. After WCCB asked the Concord Police about her disappearance Tuesday night, they sent out a news release Wednesday announcing they are investigating. Police say they have interviewed more than 40 people so far about Smith.

Fifth person charged with murder in fatal shooting of Terrik Roddey in southwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Two other suspects have been charged in the Aug. 6 murder of Terrik Roddey in southwest Charlotte, bringing the total number to five. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, 23-year-old Deneirrean Treshun Brake and 26-year-old Deandre Casshun Brake were arrested Tuesday and charged with murder and two counts each of shooting into an occupied dwelling and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

The month of September saw a 14-year-old charged with the murder of a 16-year-old, three 21-year-olds charged in connection to a drive-by shooting that killed 3-year-old Asiah Figueroa and injured his 4-year-old sister, and a 19-year-old and 15-year-old charged in a shootout that injured a 15-year-old and 1-year-old.

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - A man wanted on a long list of outstanding warrants for an incident in 2020 has now been charged. 26-year-old Daniel M. Gun violence grows past COVID-19 in claiming young lives

CHARLOTTE (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) — Gun violence in North Carolina has claimed twice as many lives of young people as COVID-19, an analysis by FOX 46 found. According to the NCDHHS COVID dashboard, six people under the age of 18 have died from the coronavirus since the pandemic began in March of 2020. But in 2021, at least 12 people that same age have died from gun violence.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Starting Wednesday, houses of worship across Mecklenburg County are required to abide by the county’s COVID-19 mask mandate. Earlier this month Mecklenburg County commissioners voted to extend the mandate to churches too. While some local religious leaders have already expressed their opinions on mask mandates, at least one church congregation won’t need to worry about the government order.
