U.S. Air Force awards $2.6 billion contract for B-52 engine replacement

MINOT, N.D. – Following a special City Council meeting in Minot Saturday, Sen. John Hoeven, R-ND, made another big announcement that impacts Minot Air Force Base. The U.S Air Force has awarded a $2.6 billion contract to Rolls Royce for the replacement of more than 600 B-52 engines through 2038.

Marauders show grit, but fall to hard-hitting Upper Iowa

Upper Iowa prevailed Saturday afternoon at the MAC, but the Marauders made the hard-hitting Peacocks earn it. The University of Mary bounced back from a disappointing performance against 11th-ranked Winona State on Friday, with a competitive performance against another powerhouse NSIC team. The Peacocks improved to 11-4 with a 25-21, 25-22, 25-19 win. Upper Iowa swept Minot State on Friday, not allowing the Beavers more than 13 points in any set.

Harvesting for The Lord’s Cupboard

VELVA – Seventeen volunteers from The Lord’s Cupboard, Minot, gathered for a near final harvest of the season on Thursday at the Brekke farm near Velva. The Lord’s Cupboard, a food pantry operating in Minot, supplies food for many needy families in Minot and the surrounding area. This is the third year the program has grown its own vegetables at the Brekke farm, owned by Duane and Jeanne Brekke, of Minot, to add to the program’s supply of food to help those in need. The vegetables are grown in elevated gardens that Duane Brekke built a few years ago.
