The Steelers have had quite an eventful offseason, but these four moves seem like the most questionable decisions for the team. The Steelers had an unusually surplus of cap space and a decent number of draft picks. They needed all of this, as the team lost quite a few key players in the offseason. While a lot of these moves were good ones on paper, there were some that were lacking. In particular, these four moves were the most puzzling that the team made.

Adam Thielen is a player that most NFL fans love to celebrate. He came up from a UDFA and a local player near Minnesota to a star wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings. Thielen entered the NFL in 2014, hit his stride in 2016, and now is 32 years old with plenty of success in the NFL.

It's hard to sneak much past Bud Grant. Just ask his players, who pulled dorm-room pranks in Gage Hall and challenged curfew during training camp at what was formerly known as Mankato State University. Now 50 years later, those same players joined a videoconference call to surprise Grant for his 95th birthday.

The Vikings had a good offense when the offseason started. They kept the best option at quarterback, Kirk Cousins, have three strong wide receivers, a tight end with potential, and the running back is a star. The offensive line was the biggest weakness in recent years, and it’s unclear if the team fixed it.

In less than two weeks, NFL front offices will have the opportunity to add extra flexibility to their salary-cap situations by cutting and/or trading players and spreading their dead money out over two years. What makes June 1 such a noteworthy day on the NFL calendar is that a majority of NFL players have their contracts set up so that their teams will save additional cap space by releasing or trading them on or after that particular day.

Mike Zimmer was a magnificent coach for the Minnesota Vikings from 2014 to 2019. The Vikings won 59.9% of games in those six seasons, the seventh-best in the NFL. A defense-first leader, Zimmer changed the dialogue of the Leslie Frazier days when the team ranked second-worst in the NFL per points allowed to opponents (from 2011 to 2013). Today, we celebrate the birthday of the man that took the Minnesota Vikings to their greatest level of success, as Bud Grant is celebrating his 95th birthday today. Grant was the second head coach in Vikings’ history, taking over for Norm van Brocklin before the start of the 1967 season. The Vikings wanted Grant to be the team’s first head coach, but he rebuffed the offers from Max Winter to take over the new expansion team in 1961 and instead stayed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, taking them to a total of four Grey Cup championships.
