St. Louis Park Nordic ski coach killed while biking near Carver

The co-head coach of the St. Louis Park Nordic ski team died when he was struck by a car while biking near Carver. John Dyste, 66, of Carver, was struck by a car on County Road 11 at County Road 40 at 1:34 p.m. on Aug. 31. He died in the hospital two weeks later, on Sept. 8, of "complications of multiple blunt force injuries," the Hennepin County Medical Examiner said on Sept. 17.

Sheriff: Miltona Man, 48, Killed In ATV Rollover

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Officials in Douglas County say a 48-year-old man is dead after an ATV rollover Sunday evening. According to the county sheriff’s office, the incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on County Road 36 and Hardwood Road in Spruce Hill Township. There, emergency responders were dispatched to the report of a single ATV that had rolled over. Upon arrival, emergency responders found the driver injured and unconscious. Despite life-saving efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office says it’s believed the driver, Todd Mrnak of Miltona, was driving the ATV eastbound and attempted to make a right hand turn into a field approach. That’s when the ATV overturned and Mrnak was thrown from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet. 12 people injured in Sunday pile-up on Interstate 35

NORTHFIELD -- A seven-vehicle collision injured 12 people, including five children, Sunday night on Interstate 35 near Webster Township. Six vehicles were stopped for a construction zone in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near milepost 73 at 7:52 p.m., when they were struck by a Kenworth tractor-trailer rig, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.

Crews Battle Fire In Northeast Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A home in northeast Minneapolis was deemed uninhabitable after a structure fire early Saturday morning. The Minneapolis Fire Department said crews were called to the one-and-a-half story home shortly before 9 a.m. When they arrived at the 2500 block of Jefferson Street Northeast, they found heavy black smoke coming from the roof vents and gable. They found the fire on the second floor attic area. A second alarm was called for additional crews and equipment. Crews were able to extinguish the fire, but the home suffered extensive fire and water damage. Though two firefighters were evaluated at the scene for minor medical conditions, neither were transported to the hospital. Red Cross has been called for the residents.
