Officers responded to a report of a suspicious male yelling in the roadway in the area of Eighth and Iowa streets. The officers located the male and determined that all was okay.

Court Records Say Boone County K-9 Officer Died After Being Left In Vehicle

(Boone County, IA) — A Boone County K-9 officer died after being left in a patrol vehicle for nearly 24 hours. Court documents say Bear, the K-9 Officer, was found in Sgt. Dallas Wingate’s truck in September. They say he was in the truck from around 10 p.m. September 1st to 8 p.m. September 2nd. Wingate resigned from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office on September 8th. The Story County Attorney’s Office will determine whether or not to file charges.

City of Grimes to Install Temporary Stoplight at Busy Intersection

(Grimes, IA) -- The City of Grimes is planning to install a temporary stoplight at the intersection of SE 19th St and S James Street next year. Much of S James St will be reconstructed between 2025 and 2026, but in the meantime, a temporary stoplight will be installed the spring of next year. A permanent traffic signal will be installed after the reconstruction is complete, likely by 2026.

Minburn boil order issued Monday after main break

The city of Minburn was placed under a boil order Monday after a water main broke in the northern part of the tow, the Minburn City Hall said in a statement. The Xenia Rural Water District is working to repair the water main, but the extent of the damage and time of resumed service remains unknown, the city said.

A doggie daycare in Grimes, Iowa had a little drama thanks to a pup who couldn’t keep her paws to herself. Dogwoods Lodge owner Jessica Tapper shares that a dog named Birdie was very happy to be there and "She just arrived for day camp and was just bouncing around and bounced into the fire alarm, pushed it in, pulled it down and that was it.”
