MILWAUKEE – The disease burden in the City of Milwaukee this week decreased to 160.8 new positive COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people over seven days and remains in the “extreme transmission” category. The percentage of positive COVID-19 test results decreased to 12% and remains in the “extreme transmission” category. Additionally, based on U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, Milwaukee County moved into the Medium COVID-19 Community Level.

MILWAUKEE – Following the approvals and recommendations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including endorsement by Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), the Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) is excited to announce pediatric Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for everyone 6 months of age and older will be available at all MHD COVID-19 vaccination sites beginning Thursday, June 23.

MILWAUKEE – The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) and Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) in conjunction with the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Heat Health Advisory for Tuesday, June 21 from 12 to 7 p.m. in Southeastern Wisconsin. The NWS forecast indicates the Heat Index values of 100 to 105 degrees are expected across the area on Tuesday afternoon and again on Wednesday afternoon.

MILWAUKEE – Mayor Cavalier Johnson issued a proclamation declaring June 3, 2022 as National Gun Violence Awareness Day in the city of Milwaukee. National Gun Violence Awareness Day kicks off Wear Orange Weekend, which runs June 3 – 5, 2022. This weekend is dedicated to honoring the lives of those affected by gun violence and elevating the voices of those demanding an end to gun violence.

MILWAUKEE – Summer in Milwaukee means getting outside and enjoying the weather, but it can also come with the danger of heat-related illnesses. Governor Tony Evers has declared June 1 as Heat Awareness Day in Wisconsin, sponsored by ReadyWisconsin and the National Weather Service to urge Wisconsinites to stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay informed this summer.

The percentage of positive COVID-19 test results is 13.3% and moved into the “extreme transmission” category. Additionally, based on U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, Milwaukee County moved into the High COVID-19 Community Level.

On May 19, 2022, Milwaukee County moved into the CDC’s “high” level of COVID-19 community spread. This level is based on three indicators: new cases per 100,000 people in the last seven days, new hospital admissions with COVID-19 per 100,000 people in the last seven days, and percent of inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients.

MILWAUKEE – Violence in Milwaukee leaves an indelible mark on individuals, families, and communities. The city is in a critical time as a continued, astronomical rise in homicides, non-fatal shootings, reckless driving, suicides, and overdoses is exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time of crisis, intentional coordination is imperative to build capacity around addressing these concerns.

The percentage of positive COVID-19 test results is 10.6% and moved into the “high transmission” category. Additionally, based on CDC guidelines, Milwaukee County remains in the Medium COVID-19 Community Level.

MILWAUKEE – The disease burden in the City of Milwaukee this week increased to 147.4 new positive COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people over seven days and remains in the “high transmission” category. The percentage of positive COVID-19 test results is 8.1% and moved into the “substantial transmission” category. Additionally, based on CDC guidelines, Milwaukee County moved into the Medium COVID-19 Community Level.

MILWAUKEE – The disease burden in the City of Milwaukee this week increased to 117.8 new positive COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people over seven days and moved into the “high transmission” category. The percentage of positive COVID-19 test results increased to 6.6% and moved into the “moderate transmission” category. Based on the new CDC guidelines, Milwaukee County remains in the low COVID-19 Community Level. Currently, 64.4% of city of Milwaukee adults 16 years and older are fully vaccinated.

MILWAUKEE – Applications are now open for the City of Milwaukee’s Office of Violence Prevention Resiliency in Community after Stress and Trauma (ReCAST) Program’s Summer of Healing Project. Organizations chosen will receive between $25,000 and $50,000 in funding for summer programs supporting youth and their families who reside in the Milwaukee priority neighborhoods identified in the Blueprint for Peace and have experienced or are at risk of trauma.
