Kelly’s Dugout Opening on Layton Avenue

The Vecitis family is no stranger to the bar business. They own DugOut 54, Lucky Chucky’s (formerly known as the Lakeside Supper Club & Lounge), Cleveland Pub and two locations of Kelly’s Bleachers (one in Wind Lake and one in Big Bend). They opened or operated, but no longer own, bars such as the Kelly’s Bleachers in Story Hill and the former Irish Rec Room.

The Original: Modern Classic on the City’s East Side

The Original has always been one of my favorite spots in Milwaukee since it opened in 2018. Taking over the original Calderone Club location off Oakland Avenue at 2498 N. Bartlett Avenue, The Original puts a modern twist on classic American. As someone who lived in New York City for a long time, I can tell the difference between a trendy hipster joint and an authentic supper club. This is neither—it’s a modern classic.

For nearly a half-century, the Rupena’s Pavilion has been a fixture at the Wisconsin State Fair. Located on the west side of Central Mall at the intersection of Central Avenue and Center Street, the location has been a meeting place for thousands of fair-goers, many of whom return year after year for Fair food favorites like stuffing balls, State Fair roasted chicken and their famous Hungarian sandwich slathered in super secret sour cream.

Dairyland Old-Fashioned Hamburgers an Homage to Wisconsin Traditions

“We believe Wisconsin is the best place on planet Earth to produce dairy,” enthuses chef Kurt Fogle. A dedication to Wisconsin’s dairy heritage is what led Fogle, his wife, Katie Fogle, Kurt’s cousin Brent Fogle, and their friend Joe McCormick to launch Dairyland Old-Fashioned Hamburgers this past September at Common Cookhouse, a workspace for food entrepreneurs at 924 Rawson Avenue, in Oak Creek. There, people can order curbside pickup or delivery. They also have a food truck at Zocalo Food Park (636 S. Sixth St.).
