ATV accident claims the life of a Menomonee Falls woman

Jennifer L Kaine, age 51, of Menomonee Falls, Wis., and Adam G. Gauckler, age 38, of Caledonia, Wis., were riding a 2021 Polaris ATV, traveling southbound on a public ATV trail west of County Rd. B in the Township of Harrison, on Saturday, Sept. 11, when Gauckler lost control. The ATV hit a tree and rolled, and both Kaine and Gauckler were ejected from the ATV, according to a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department. Kaine was flown to an area hospital where she died from her injuries. Gauckler sustained non-life threatening injuries. Neither were wearing helmets, all according to the release.

Pewaukee Pilot Watched Twin Towers Collapse From Above

Chuck Savall, a 66-year-old retired pilot from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, had one of the most remarkable experiences on Sept. 11, 2001. Savall was flying Midwest Express Flight 73 from Milwaukee to Newark, New Jersey, when he witnessed the second plane crash into the World Trade Center. A few minutes later, his plane ended up in the path of United Flight 93, the plane that eventually crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Port Washington police officer rescues two from burning condo

PORT WASHINGTON — A Port Washington police officer suffered smoke inhalation after saving two people from their burning condominium Sunday. Port Washington Fire Chief Mark Mitchell said a police officer on patrol first noticed smoke coming from side-by-side condos at 404 N. Wisconsin St. around 5:40 p.m. By the time firefighters arrived from the firehouse a block away, it had escalated to visible flames, Mitchell said. Mitchell said it’s likely the fire started on a gas grill on the balcony and then spread to the building. He said attacking the fire was tricky because the structure is situated on a steep hill, known as Billy Goat Hill.

Teenager seriously injured in Port bike accident

A 15-year-old Port Washington High School student was seriously injured Saturday evening when the bike she was riding collided with a passing vehicle. Witnesses told police the girl was riding her bike east on the sidewalk on the north side of Grand Avenue across from the Mobile gas station about 5:10 p.m. when she abruptly turned into traffic, Police Chief Kevin Hingiss said.

Alex Hook was playing during recess when teachers say he fell to the ground after a piece of rebar used to reinforce concrete hit him in the skull after a lawnmower flung the bar into the air.

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Port Washington police officer rescued a 79-year-old man trapped inside a burning home on Sunday, Sept. 12. Officer Becker was on routine patrol near Washington and Wisconsin when he began hearing popping and crackling noises around 5:40 p.m. Police say this was shortly followed by a fireball coming from the same area.

The Racine Fire Department was called to reports of a working fire at 2029 Jay Eye See Avenue at 4:13 p.m. Saturday.
