Dr. Aaron Haines, a professor of conservation biology at Millersville University, recently conducted a study with other biologists published in the Wiley Journal of Ecology and Evolution. The study examined ocelots and jaguarundis in southern Texas. These wild cats are endangered in the U.S. Haines’ methods of observation included the use of remote camera trapping. LANCASTER COUNTY – Police in Lancaster County say a missing elderly man has been located. West Lampeter Township Police responded last evening to the area of Cliff Avenue and Conestoga Avenue after receiving a report that a 79-year-old man left his residence on foot and had not returned. The family was concerned for his current health status. The man was last seen walking in that area around 7 p.m. A search detail was initiated. At 10:48 p.m., while searching a wooded area in the vicinity, members of the Middle Creek Search and Rescue Team and First Responders located the man. LANCASTER – A Norristown Police officer was killed in a crash in Lancaster County. On August 13 at 9:48 a.m., State Police say 44-year-old Brian Kozera of Blue Bell was on a bicycle when it struck a truck driven by 62-year-old John Good of East Earl at the intersection of S. Pool Forge Road and Nolt Road in Caernarvon Township. An investigation found that the bicycle proceeded through a stop sign at Nolt Road and struck the truck on the passenger side. Kozera was taken to Reading Hospital where he died from his injuries. The truck driver was not hurt. Kozera was with Norristown Police for 16 years. He had been bicycle ride training for the Ironman World Championships that are occurring in October 2022 at the time of the accident.
