Troopers Investigating Two Shooting Incidents Leaving Two Injured- New Castle County

New Castle, DE– Delaware State Police are investigating two shooting incidents that occurred Friday night in New Castle County that left two injured. On July 30, 2021, at approximately 9:10 p.m., a 44-year-old male from Newark, DE, was operating his 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Route 1 in the far-right lane, anticipating exiting onto Pulaski Highway. As he was driving, a black Kia-style sedan with tinted windows pulled next to him, and both passenger side windows rolled down. Two male suspects then began shooting multiple rounds at the victim from the vehicle before it exited Route 1 onto Pulaski Highway. The victim came to a controlled stop on the west shoulder of Route 1 southbound, just north of Pulaski Highway.

Wilmington Man Arrested on Weapon and Felony DUI Charges Following Road Rage Incident- Lewes

Lewes, DE- Delaware State Police arrested a Wilmington man on weapon and felony DUI charges early Friday morning following a road rage incident in Lewes. On July 30, 2021, at approximately 2:31 a.m., troopers were dispatched to the parking lot of Home Depot located at 17832 Coastal Highway, Lewes, for a road rage incident. A 31-year-old male called 911 after he was followed in his vehicle on Coastal Highway by an aggressive driver who then followed him into the Home Depot parking lot. Once in the parking lot, the aggressive driver, later identified as John Gillen, 56, of Wilmington, threw a lock at the male’s vehicle and began screaming at him. When troopers arrived on scene and contacted John, a strong odor of alcohol was detected, and a DUI investigation ensued. John was taken into custody, and an inventory search of his vehicle was conducted after he was detained incident to a DUI arrest. Located inside the car were the following items:

Victim Identified in Deadly Dover Crash

DOVER,DE- Delaware State Police Saturday, identified the man who died in a car collision on Friday, July 30, 2021, as 48-year-old Natalio Victor Ramirez Ortiz, of Dover. Police say Ramirez Ortiz was traveling northbound on Wyoming Mill Road towards Riverside Road on Friday, July 30, 2021, at approximately 12:21 p.m when his car swerved off the roadway into a private yard and then struck a tree.
