Lakeview High School Records States Largest New Covid Outbreak

This afternoon the State of Michigan gave its updated COVID-19 numbers. The State only updates its numbers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Today they informed us that they added 7,185 positive COVID-19 cases along with 35 people who died either from or with COVID-19. The State does not inform us who died with or from the virus. Of those 35 deaths, 9 were identified during a Vital Records review.

Michigan HS football rankings for Week 4

The Michigan high school football rankings for Week 4 are out from the Associated Press. There are a handful of local schools ranked once again in this week's poll. Constantine remains ranked second overall in the Division 6 poll. White Pigeon finds themselves ranked sixth overall in the Division 8 poll, where Centreville is an honorable mention squad this week. They will meet up on Friday in White Pigeon. Colon also remains ranked, at No. 8, in 8-man football. The Magi host No. 2 Adrian Lenawee Christian this week. Mendon is also honorable mention this week for 8-man football.

412 infected in 99 new coronavirus outbreaks at Michigan schools, per Sept. 20 report

Michigan discovered 99 new COVID-19 outbreaks associated with schools last week, resulting in the infection of at least 412 students and staff. Combined with the 129 ongoing outbreaks reported in previous weekly reports by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the state is aware of 228 active school outbreaks, resulting in the infection of at least 1,730 students and staff.

Michigan health officials reported 98 new COVID-19 outbreaks at K-12 schools across the state on Monday, with the majority of new cases at elementary and high schools. The largest new outbreak was Lakeview High School in Battle Creek in Calhoun County where 31 cases impacting students and staff were reported.
