Indictments Include Strangulation, Endangerment And Assault

The Mercer County Grand Jury handed up indictments last Wednesday on charges including strangulation, wanton endangerment and assault. • Jeron Tinsley, 32, of 1020 Gardenside Drive, Owensboro, is charged with 1st degree strangulation, a class C felony, and 4th degree assault, a class A misdemeanor. On or about April 19, 2022, Tinsley is accused of using his hands to impede the victim’s breathing, and intentionally causing a physical injury, according to the indictment. Bail was set at $5,000 on the condition Tinsley has no contact with the alleged victim. Patrolman Jonathan Hale (Harrodsburg Police Department) testified.

Ephraim McDowell Health Wins Boyle County Detention Center Medical Bid

The Mercer County-Boyle County Joint Jail Committee has chosen Ephraim McDowell Health to provide medical services at the Boyle County Detention Center. At last week’s meeting at the Boyle County Court House, the committee awarded the medical contract to McDowell, which operates three hospitals—including Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital in Harrodsburg—serving more than 119,000 people from six counties in central Kentucky.

Off to a strong start – Mercer County Powerlifting Team Debut

The Mercer County Titans powerlifting team hosted their first ever weight lifting competition with the debut of the 2022 Kentucky Powerlifting Invitational Saturday, May 7. Coaches Jeremy Carlson and Marshall Marcum and a group of Mercer students had taken the hour trip to North Bullitt High School for the Kentucky Push Pull Competition back on March 7. The team had a short time to prepare, but placed second overall. Carlson and Marcum came away from the event seeing room for improvement and a plan to host their own competition.
