Grace Hudson paintings will be returned to Ukiah from Palm Springs in 2022

MENDOCINO Co., 12/7/21 —Mendocino County painter Grace Hudson is known for her depictions of local residents and landscapes, and many of her artworks are housed at the museum in Ukiah that bears her name. Next year, however, an additional 16 paintings will gifted back to the museum, and another two returned through a long-term loan, thanks to an arrangement with the Palm Spring Museum. These 18 paintings will be returning to Mendocino County from their current home as a gift, in part due to generous contributions from local funders to support the transfer costs.

3rd District Supervisor John Haschak’s Reflects on 2021: COVID, Cannabis Enforcement, Drought, and the People’s Referendum

With the end of the year quickly approaching, it is time for reflection on all we have been through and envision the work ahead. Certainly the past year has had its challenges. We made it this far with the Covid pandemic and working to get the vaccine out to those who wanted it, and educate those who were reluctant. Mendocino County is doing pretty well as far as the statewide average in regards to Covid deaths and vaccination rates.

On the Anniversary of the Pearl Harbor Attack, We Remember the Civilians Who Watched Mendocino County’s Skies

HISTORY: In May 1941, civilian volunteers acting as airplane spotters were organized, with the help of the American Legion, into the Aircraft Warning Service (AWS), the civilian arm of the Army’s Ground Observer Corps. This was a response to the new threat of wide-ranging bombing planes loaded with highly explosive bombs capable of ranging far from home base and potentially attacking America.

Off the Record (December 8, 2021)

“HE WHO WOULD KEEP A SECRET must keep it a secret that he has a secret to keep,” hence nobody who knows for a slam dunk fact if the Kennedy Assassination was a conspiracy has come forward. I think the suspiciously delayed release of the rest of the Kennedy papers probably confirms that Oswald was employed, at different times, by both the CIA and the FBI. My late comrade, Cockburn, thought there was no conspiracy, that Oswald was a small 'c' communist whose attempt to knock off General Walker, his affiliation with the Fair Play For Cuba Committee, his sojourn in Russia, and his assassination of Kennedy were inspired by genuine left sympathies. Maybe. Oswald grew up hard, and he was an intellectual of sorts whose experience could have made him a proto-Marxist, but I'm more inclined to believe what he said he was, a “dupe” in a larger scheme.
