Memphis Zoo animals may soon get COVID-19 vaccine

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis Zoo leaders discussed COVID-19 testing and vaccines with their animals Tuesday. Senior Veterinarian Felicia Knightly says the zoo’s great apes are at the top of the list to receive the vaccine due to their relation to human beings. But she also says there are no studies out yet that say whether a COVID-19 vaccine would be effective in certain species of animals.

Residents say rats have overrun Whitehaven apartment complex

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — People who live at a Whitehaven apartment complex say rats have taken over. Several people who live at the Mill Creek Apartments in Whitehaven reached out to us for help. They say rats have taken over their complex, finding a home near the trash area spreading from there into some apartments.

Whitehaven family in fear of pack of dogs running loose in neighborhood

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Whitehaven family says it’s not COVID but a pack of strays dogs that has kept them trapped inside their home at times over the last several months. Teresa Wilkins owns the house in the 1300 block of Janis and said that five dogs have been running loose through the drainage ditches on her block. She said when they come into her yard, no one feels safe to go outside.
