Troopers arrest several in busy Wednesday evening

LINCOLN — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested several people following multiple incidents across the state Wednesday evening. In Omaha, a trooper observed a motorcycle speeding near 42nd and L Streets. The motorcycle was traveling at 63 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the motorcycle rider refused to yield and fled. The trooper initiated a pursuit.

Missing 72-year-old Plattsmouth man found dead in Missouri River

OMAHA — A Plattsmouth man who had been missing since Saturday has been found dead in the Missouri River. The body of John Zarkowski, 72, was recovered Wednesday in his 2018 SUV about 520 yards south of the Plattsmouth boat dock, the Cass County Sheriff's Office said. The SUV had been located late Tuesday with the aid of a specialized sonar system about 30 feet from shore.

Man Arrested In Vehicle Break-Ins South Of Downtown

Lincoln Police were called to the 1600 block of G Street around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22nd to investigate a report of a man breaking into parked cars. The caller told police they saw a man break the windows on two vehicle, get inside and rummage through them. The caller was also able to provide a description of the suspect to dispatch. Officers arrived and saw a man matching that description riding a bicycle nearby. Police were able to take the man into custody. Inside his backpack, officers found a speaker that had been removed from one of the vehicles. Also in his backpack, police found bolt cutters, wrenches and a flashlight. The man was positively identified by the witness as the person seen breaking into the vehicles.

NSP Troopers Find Meth At Scene Of Motorcycle Crash

A Beaver Crossing man is in the hospital and facing charges after a motorcycle crash around 8:25 Wednesday night at the intersection of Highway 77 and 92 near Mead.
