Highway 85 named ‘Highway Safety Corridor,’ project to begin in October

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A 70-mile stretch of highway will soon become a Highway Safety Corridor. The North Dakota Department of Transportation named Highway 85 from Belfield to Watford City as the safety corridor. Travelers will notice additional signs indicating reduced speed, no-passing zones, road conditions, and reminders to drive safely. The project also involves an increase in law enforcement. It’s expected to be in place in October.

Belfield man arrested in Stark County on drug charges

STARK COUNTY, N.D. (KFYR) - A Belfield man was arrested Monday in Stark County on drug charges. The Stark County Sheriff’s Office says 30-year-old Austin Caron was taken into custody following a traffic stop, when officers found half of an ounce of marijuana, 3.5 grams of meth and 70 fentanyl pills. Caron was also driving with a suspended license.

Wyoming pipeline spills 45K gallons of fuel

A diesel pipeline in rural eastern Wyoming cracked open, spilling more than 45,000 gallons of fuel, according to state regulators and a company executive. Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality Emergency Response Coordinator Joe Hunter said that the spill was discovered by the pipeline’s operator on July 27 and that the cleanup is ongoing.
