Norma F. Langford

Norma F. Langford, age 90, passed away Sunday morning, August 7, 2022, at her Meade residence. She was born August 2, 1932, in rural Meade County, Kansas, the daughter of Robert Frank and Minnie Elizabeth (Murphy) Butler. As a young girl, she attended school in Meade, graduating from Meade High School in 1951. A lifetime resident of Meade, she was a bank teller for the First National Bank that later became the Meade State Bank.

James A. (Jim) Hush

James A. (Jim) Hush, age 86, passed away Wednesday morning, June 22, 2022, at the Regent Park Rehabiltation and Healthcare, Wichita, Kansas. He was born January 20, 1936, at Wichita, Kansas, the son of Leonard and Blanche Lucille (Armentrout) Hush. At the age of six months, he moved with his mother and twin sisters to Plains. He attended the Plains school system, graduating from Plains High School in 1954 and was a part of the undefeated football team. In 1955, he joined the United States Army, serving in Germany until 1957. Upon his discharge, he returned to Plains and began his career as a farmer and as an auctioneer. In 1959, he started the Liberal Auction Company conducting farm and household sales.

Cimarron Man Dies in Meade County Accident

A two vehicle accident occurred Tuesday in Meade County at the intersection of US 160 and Road 4. A 2004 Chevy SUV being driven by Peter Krahn, 21, of Cimarron was traveling Southbound on road 4 in Meade County, while a 2022 Peterbilt semi being driven by Bevan Becker,28, of Montezuma was Westbound on US 160. Krahn failed to yield the right of way to the semi, and struck the semi on the number 4 axle of the trailer. The Chevy SUV came to a rest facing North in the Eastbound lane of US 160, while the semi came to final rest facing West in the Westbound lane of US 160.
