Highway Patrols identifies truck driver killed in crash west of Leola

LEOLA, S.D.–The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of a truck driver killed a week ago in McPherson County. Thirty eight year-old Mark Kellar of Mound City, South Dakota was eastbound on Highway 10, fourteen miles west of Leola when the truck went off the highway and rolled.

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2010 Kenworth T600 semi-truck and trailer was eastbound on South Dakota Highway 10 when the vehicle went off the roadway and rolled.

Mound City man identified as victim in McPherson County wreck

A 38-year-old from Mound City has been identified as the man who died in an early morning wreck in McPherson County on April 12. Mark Kellar was driving a semi east on state Highway 10 when the vehicle went off the road and rolled, preliminary information indicates, according to a news release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. That was about 14 miles west of Leola.

LEOLA, S.D.–A truck driver has died of injuries sustained when he crashed his rig in McPherson County. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says it happened early Monday morning on Highway 10, fourteen miles west of Leola. Burning ban in effect at McPherson County

EUREKA, S.D.(Press Release)- Effective 3-12-21 the McPherson County Commissioners have enacted a resolution banning open burning with the exception of campfires in campfire rings or pits, burning barrels 55 gallon or less that are equipped with a screen or barbeque grills. This will be in effect until the Commission lifts the burn ban.

SD adds six more deaths; active infections up, hospitalizations down

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added six more COVID-related deaths, and saw an increase in active infections and a decrease in hospitalizations, according to totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included one in McPherson County) moved the state’s overall death total to 1,519. There were 607 new confirmed cases and 249 recoveries, increasing active cases to 6,387. There were six less people hospitalized in connection with the virus dropping that total to 264.

6 COVID-related deaths reported by state Wednesday

South Dakota reported six additional COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday and another 608 new positive infections. The six additional deaths pushed the total to 1,519. They included three people aged 70-79, two 80 or older and one 60-69. Four were men and two were women, and one was a resident of a long-term care facility.
