MARQUETTE, Kan. —A Kansas man died in an accident just before 10 p.m. Wednesday in Ellsworth County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a pickup driven by 62-year-old Richard Saunders of Marquette was northbound on Kansas 141 just north of the Kanopolis Reservoir dam when his vehicle struck the east guardrail several times before the truck traveled over the guardrail and rolled down the embankment.
Though McPherson County is seeing lower Covid-19 cases at the current time, that does not mean that we can completely relax the protocols requiring mask wearing at health care facilities. Rock Creek softball woke up Wednesday morning as regional champions after a fairly dominant performance in McPherson Tuesday evening. The Mustangs (16-6), who entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed in the western half of Class 4A, opened regional play with a scorching 20-0 victory over Augusta before taking down the third-seeded host Bullpups 5-2.

CIMARRON, Kan. (KAKE) - The Kansas Highway Patrol says two people were killed when their vehicles collided head-on in the southwest part of the state. It happened just after 5 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 50 about 17 miles west of Cimarron. One person was killed in a two-vehicle head-on crash involving a van and a semi on a McPherson County highway. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 43-year-old Robert Harrell of Kansas City was driving a 2019 Dodge Caravan headed east on U.S. 56 Highway. For an unknown reason he went left of center and struck an oncoming 2020 Volvo Semi head-on.
