McKinney residents can weigh in on the city’s budget during the upcoming public hearing. As part of the public hearing, highlights of the proposed budget will be presented. THIS BUDGET WILL RAISE MORE TOTAL PROPERTY TAXES THAN LAST YEAR'S BUDGET BY $6,803,430 OR 5.41%, AND OF THAT AMOUNT, $3,844,498 IS TAX REVENUE TO BE RAISED FROM NEW PROPERTY ADDED TO THE TAX ROLL THIS YEAR.

McKinney City Manager proposes lower city property tax rate

The budget allows for just over a one-cent reduction in the city’s property tax rate. McKINNEY, Texas (Aug. 16, 2021) – The McKinney City Manager proposed a $618 million total budget for Fiscal Year 2022, resulting in just over a one-cent reduction in the city’s property tax rate. The budget, which includes $171 million in the general fund, would lower the city’s property tax rate from 0.508645 to 0.497655. The proposed rate means property owners would pay $0.497655 for every $100 of assessed property value.

City of McKinney to spray area for mosquitoes

The spray area is generally east of Woodson Drive, west of Penny Lane, south of Estates Way, and north of Maidstone Way. McKINNEY, Texas (Aug. 10, 2021) – McKinney is set to spray an area of the city to control mosquitoes after a mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile Virus. Spraying will start at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, weather permitting. The spray area is generally east of Woodson Drive, west of Penny Lane, south of Estates Way, and north of Maidstone Way.

Residents rate high quality of life, strong economic health in McKinney

McKINNEY, Texas (May 19, 2021) – After a recent citizen satisfaction survey, 93 percent of respondents rated the City of McKinney as an excellent or good place to live, confirming they enjoy a higher quality of life than most communities across the nation. This rating is higher than most communities compared to benchmark data from the National Citizen Survey. The rating is slightly higher than previous surveys, up from 92 percent in 2019 and 91 percent in the 2017 citizen survey.
