FireFrost ATV Club Fuels Momentum with Recent Grant Awards. Halstad, MN — The grants continue to fuel momentum for western Norman County’s FireFrost ATV Club and their quest to develop a multi-use trail from Nielsville to Perley, MN. The club earlier this summer received grants from Polaris and Yamaha that brought in $25,000, but just recently were able to secure annual assistance from the Minnesota DNR, plus a grant from the Federal Recreation Trail Program, which will provide the club with $150,000 in funding, according to club member Lucas Spaeth.

Slight Changes to Hillsboro City Hall Hours

Hillsboro, ND — Hillsboro City Hall will be making some slight adjustments to their hours that they will be open to the public. The Hillsboro City Commission approved last week closing the office early on Wednesday afternoons at 1pm. Hillsboro Commission President Levi Reese says the change is being made to allow staff to catch up on training and other items.

Two people injured after crashing ATV near Emerado

EMERADO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Two people are hurt after an ATV crash Friday evening. A 14-year old was driving the ATV near Emerado on private property at 17th Ave NE & 18th St. Highway Patrol says the trail was muddy when she turned the ATV in manner that she lost control and rolled the ATV one full roll, onto it’s driver’s side. The girl suffered minor injuries. Her passenger, 38-year-old Zachary Mack, sustained severe injuries from the crash and is being treated at Altru Hospital.

Hillsboro City Commission Leans Heavy on Budget Discussions During August 1st Meeting

Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro City Commission held their first regular monthly meeting on Monday night, August 1st at the Main Street Community Center. Preliminary budget talks took up a majority of the discussion during the meeting as the commission is looking at increasing their mils to 63.17 mils, which would equate to an increase of $55,000 to what is taxed to Hillsboro property owners. While they anticipate costs going up, Hillsboro City Commission President Levi Reese says the main reason for the increase is offset expenses currently be paid for through their electrical fund.
