Massachusetts Recommending Some Fully Vaccinated People Wear Face Masks Indoors

BOSTON (CBS) — The Department of Public Health is now recommending that some fully vaccinated people in Massachusetts wear face masks indoors. The updated advisory comes on the heels of new Centers For Disease Control Guidance that recommends face masks indoors for everyone in areas of substantial or high COVID transmission. According to the CDC, Barnstable County and Nantucket are listed as substantial risk. Suffolk, Bristol, Plymouth and Hampden Counties are at high risk. Massachusetts reports another 844 new COVID cases as 7-day percent positive passes 2% for first time since April

Massachusetts reported another 844 COVID cases Friday as the delta variant continues to spread across the state, but predominantly in a few Eastern Massachusetts counties. The new case report represents the second-highest day of new cases reported this week, the first being Monday when 1,243 new cases were reported in a combined report from Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Massachusetts Reports 844 New COVID-19 Cases, 3 Additional Deaths

BOSTON (CBS) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported 844 new confirmed COVID cases and three additional deaths in the state on Friday. Health officials said the total number of confirmed cases in the state is now 672,488. The total number of confirmed deaths is now 17,714. There were 38,616 total new tests reported. As of Friday, the seven-day weighted average of positive tests in Massachusetts is 2.07%. There are 197 people currently hospitalized for a coronavirus-related illness. There are also 40 patients currently in intensive care.
