Knoxville mother of infant who died in hot car to appear in court

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The mother of the infant who died in a hot car parked at a Food City parking lot in August 2019 is scheduled to appear in a Knox County courtroom Thursday. She was previously indicted by a grand jury in October 2019 for first-degree murder, felony murder and aggravated child neglect.

Several arrests made after meth busts in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says over the past few weeks they’ve cracked down on methamphetamine dealers in the county. The office’s Narcotics Division made several busts in the county, arresting one suspected drug trafficker in Sweetwater during a traffic stop, arresting another two suspects that were allegedly bringing meth into the county from McMinn County, and arrested a suspected dealer in the Head of Creek community.

Knoxville Police are investigating a shooting that leaves one dead, another injured. Officers called to Holston Oaks Apartments on Riverside Drive yesterday (Wednesday) evening. They found a woman inside of a vehicle in the parking lot suffering from at least one apparent gunshot, while a man was also found nearby suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was transported to the UT Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a 5-year-old boy who has been missing since July 5.
