Two People Arrested in Marshall County on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested Thursday, August 4 after Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle. Deputies responded to the area of Fir Road and 9B Road attempting to locate the vehicle around 5:15 a.m. ET. Officers located a black passenger car in the area and spoke with the driver, Cody Mullins of Pierceton, and passenger Hailee Sutherlin of Warsaw.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department will host a firearms safety course Saturday, September 17. Sheriff Matt Hassel says the 9 a.m. ET course will begin with classroom training related to safety concepts, legal issues, handling, storage, carrying, and fundamentals of shooting. Plymouth Man Arrested on Drug Charges

A Plymouth man was arrested early Monday morning following a traffic stop in Marshall County. A Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of Pioneer Drive and U.S. 30 shortly after 2 a.m. ET. During the traffic stop, a Starke County Sheriff’s Department K9 was requested to the scene where the K9 reportedly alerted to the presence of narcotics. Police say a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted where a large amount of substances were found that tested positive for heroin, fentanyl and methamphetamine. Officers also found multiple syringes, marijuana, controlled substance pills, and other items associated with the use of narcotics, according to the report.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies say 33-year-old Dorcus Stump from Nappanee was traveling east on State Road 10 at the U.S. 31 intersection in her 2016 Nissan Titan around 4:40 p.m. ET and reportedly failed to yield to the right-of-way to a 2004 Ford F-150 driven by 68-year-old Kenneth Michels of Mishawaka. Michels was traveling north on U.S. 31 at the intersection with State Road 10. Both vehicles collided and left the roadway.

Three people were injured in an accident Saturday afternoon involving two vehicles in the area of U.S. 6 and Dogwood Road in Marshall County. According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, 28-year-old Drew Schramm of Warsaw was traveling southbound on Dogwood Road and reportedly failed to stop at the intersection of U.S. 6 and yield to the right-of-way of traffic on U.S. 6. Schramm’s vehicle struck the side of a 2017 Nissan Rogue driven by 51-year-old Jeremy Nusbaum of Nappanee, according to the report. Police say the impact caused Nusbaum’s vehicle to leave the roadway and roll over.
