Multiple injured in Black Friday wrecks

A single-vehicle wreck injured one man and damaged two additional vehicles Friday morning. Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith said James Morris Helms, of Lazy Creek Circle, Albertville, was traveling northbound on U.S. 431 at about 10:35 a.m. when a tire came off his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado truck, according to a witness statement.

Guntersville man arrested for child abuse

A Guntersville man remains in the Marshall County jail after his arrest for aggravated child abuse. Marshall County Sheriff’s investigators arrested 21-year-old Daiquan Holt shortly after being notified by Huntsville Hospital of a five-month-old baby with suspicious injuries. Those injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome. The baby was later sent to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham for treatment of the injuries.

Suspect charged with murder of Douglas woman found in ditch

An Albertville woman has been charged with murder in the Nov. 5 death of Jana Miller Chatman, 32, of Douglas. Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith said Leslie Kay Sims, 39, of Alabama 205, Albertville, was developed as a suspect in the case in recent days and during questioning Wednesday, Sims confessed to the killing.

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - One man was killed and two others were injured after a wreck in Albertville Sunday night. According to Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith, Cory Blake White was driving northbound on Mathis Mill Road when his car crossed into the path of another car and collided.
