Brown to play at St. Andrews University

Marlboro County High School senior Caleb Brown signed a letter of intent on Monday in the MCHS media center, surrounded by his family, teammates, friends and coaches, to play basketball at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg. Coach Jermaine Purvis, who helped to coach Brown, said he was proud of Brown.

Wanted New Jersey man arrested in Marlboro County following police chase

MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — A man wanted by officials in New Jersey has been arrested in Marlboro County after a police chase. The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office said the Uniformed Patrol Division along with the Criminal Investigation Division attempted to conduct a lawful traffic stop on a driven by Sean Anthony Gray, 44 years old, of New Orange, New Jersey in the McColl area of Marlboro County.

County has employee appreciation day

Last week as part of Public Service Recognition, Marlboro County Employee Appreciation Day was held on May 12 from 3-7 p.m. on the grounds of the Murchison building. The event included food, games, music, a bouncy house, karaoke, and a dunking booth. County Administrator Ron Munnerlyn and other county officials agreed to get in the dunking booth. Donations were made in order to take a shot at those individuals. All donations were given to the Humane Society of Marlboro County.

Marlboro County High School FBLA members Kendall Miles, Logan Haithcock, and Lindsay Haithcock have qualified to attend the FBLA National Leadership Conference this summer in Chicago, IL, June 29 – July 2. Miles was the first place winner in Introduction to Business Concepts and the team of Logan and Lindsay Haithcock were second place winners in Introduction to Event Planning. These outstanding members qualified to represent Marlboro County at the National Conference by winning first and second place at the district and state leadership conferences, respectively. These students will be attending the conference along with FBLA members from Blenheim Middle School of Discovery as well as FBLA Advisors Karen Larkins and H. Watson.
