A rezoning request goes before the board for a huge development in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (FOX 42 KPTM) — On Wednesday, the planning board will hear a request to rezone the area on 38th and Dodge where three occupied multifamily homes sit. The request comes after Skylark L.L.C. is seeking approval to build a 113 unit modern apartment building that includes a gym, a parking garage and retail shops.

Creighton pulls away with big second half over NDSU

NDSU suffered a lopsided loss to a hot Creighton team on Tuesday night, 80-55, in Omaha. NDSU started the game shooting the ball well to stay within striking distance, trailing 40-32 at halftime. The Bison suffered through a few cold spells which allowed Creighton to pull away in the second half. NDSU shot 34% for the game but only 22% in the second half. Creighton shot 52.5% for the game. The Bison were led by Dez McKinney with 13 points while Rocky Kreuser chipped in with 12 points. Creighton had a balanced attack with 11 players scoring including four starters in double figures. They were led by Ryan Kaklbrenner with 17 points.

Igloos Return to The Capitol District

The igloos are returning to Omaha’s Capitol District ( just in time for the cold weather. The see-through domes offer guests a warm, comfortable, intimate place to gather with a small group of friends under the twinkling lights of The Capitol District. It’s like being inside a cozy snow globe. The heated igloos were first brought to Omaha last year as a COVID-safe alternative for winter fun. They are spaced throughout The Capitol District’s plaza, with the option of an eight-person dining igloo or an eight-person lounge igloo. Guests can order food or drinks to be delivered from The Capitol District’s many restaurants and bars and add on various experiences like s’mores or cookie decorating kits. The igloos opened November 5 and will remain open throughout the winter months. Each igloo rents for a 1½ hour block of time and costs $150.

On October 23, 134 Latino women graduated from the Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation (MLCDC, Mujeres Emprendedoras (Women Entrepreneurs) program. The event, sponsored by U.S. Bank, was held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army Omaha Kroc Center. The event gathered more than 100 attendees, participants, and their families who joined to see their loved ones receive their certificates.

(Council Bluffs) -- Jenna Hopp and Brynlee Arnold both reached career high point totals, and the 4A No. 1 Glenwood cruised to a 75-52 win over Abraham Lincoln on Tuesday.
