68-Year-Old Man Killed In Mahnomen County Crash

MAHNOMEN COUNTY, Minn. (WCCO) – A 68-year-old man died in Mahnomen County on Thursday morning when his car left the road and ended up in a small pond. According to the state patrol, the crash happened shortly before noon in northwestern Minnesota. The man was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastwards on Highway 113 when it left the road near 173rd Avenue. The car hit the guard rail and entered a ditch, ending up in a small pond. The man was not wearing his seat belt at the time, state patrol said. His identity will be released at a later time.

WAUBUN, Minn. (Valley News Live) - Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a crash in Mahnomen County on Thursday, May 12. The Minnesota State Patrol says 68-year-old David Charles Sokolik, of Waubun, was travelling east on Highway 113 near 173rd Avenue when the vehicle left the road, hit a guardrail and landed in a small pond in the south ditch.

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The White Earth Tribal Police Dept. announced that State Highway 113 is closed until further notice between Mahnomen County Road 3 and 4 due to the road being washed out. WETPD is also saying that there is no through traffic in the closed area.

Semi Accident Reported This Morning on Hwy 59 in Mahnomen County

A Mahnomen area woman had a close call when she was injured in a two vehicle accident involving a semi this morning on Hwy 59. According to the State Patrol, 67 year old Carol Delia Geray was injured when a northbound 2018 International driven by 32 year old Brandon Aaron Madden, of Lutz, FL, jackknifed across Hwy 59. Officials say the semi collided with the 2014 Ford Escape Geray was driving at milepost 297 in Mahnomen County. Both drivers were wearing their seat-belts at the time of the accident reported just after 11am.

In the early morning hours of March 13th, a deputy from Mahnomen County was attempting a traffic stop. The car failed to pull over and a chase was underway. According to FOX News after the deputy exercised the PIT maneuver the deputy took several passengers from the car and put them into custody. As the video shows Deputy Czemy, of the Dakota County Sheriff's Department, was in the process of handcuffing one of the women from the car when another woman from the car, Deanne Basswood, 20, pulled out a gun and pointed it at Czemy.
