Louisville area homes continue selling fast at high prices

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Greater Louisville Association of Realtors is reporting home sales are up 13% from last year, based on the most recent data compiled in June. The recent statistics add to the growing surge in home sales for 2021. The pace of growth did slow down slightly in June, but the average price went up nearly 12% compared to this time last year.

Group aims at enacting workforce housing tax credits

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (KT) – A new group announced its formation on Friday with the goal of having the General Assembly enact workforce housing tax credits. The Commonwealth Alliance for Housing Solutions was joined by State Representatives Randy Bridges, R-Paducah, and Kim Banta, R-Ft. Mitchell, at the event, in calling for the tax credit in an effort to encourage building more affordable housing.

Louisville area home sales up 13% in 2021, with average price up 11.7%

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Greater Louisville Association of Realtors (GLAR) reported year-to-date sales volume up 13.1% in June 2021. The pace of growth slowed to 1.2% in June with 1,892 homes and condos sold, versus 1,870 in June 2020. The year-to-date figure remains higher because of the impact of COVID-19 on sales from April to June 2020.

The headline Wednesday, July 7 read “Luxury Apartments proposed in South Clarksville.” The article said apartments would range from 720 to 2,530 square feet and from $1,210 to $2,275 [a month] in rent. While I am unsure what qualifies as a “luxury” apartment or a “low-income” one, I believe people struggling with minimum-wage jobs are having more trouble finding suitable housing than those looking for luxury.
