Two charged after lengthy police chase

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — Two people are in jail following a chase Tuesday night in Johnson County. Acting on a tip that a Chevy Cobalt would be traveling through Hager Hill with a large amount of drugs, a deputy spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull it over after it ran a stop sign. Instead, the vehicle sped away, leading to a chase through Van Lear, Paintsville and Boons Camp.

Huntington man charged in 2018 shooting deaths

HUNTINGTON — A Huntington man has been arrested in a case of two 2018 shooting deaths. Cabell County Magistrate Court records say that Dalton Gaige Mcguire, 25, of Huntington, has been charged with two felony counts of first-degree murder in the 2018 deaths of Kelli Adkins and Melvin Courts Jr. in Huntington’s Southside neighborhood.

Man sues Cabell Huntington Hospital for injuries from fall

HUNTINGTON — A man is suing Cabell Huntington Hospital alleging he was injured while at the hospital. Billy Murphy was admitted to Cabell Huntington Hospital on May 27, 2020, for a suspected stroke and altered mental state and was a known fall risk, however, despite this, the staff failed to take sufficient measures to prevent him from falling and on May 30, 2020, he fell, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.

Kentucky man charged with child sexual exploitation

ASHLAND, KY (WOWK)—Kentucky State Police say that 23-year-old Jonathan Taylor Breeding was arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse material. The KSP started an investigation after finding that the suspect uploaded images of child sexual exploitation online. Police executed a search warrant at an Ashland residence on Tuesday, and equipment used in the crime was seized and taken in for forensic examination.

HUNTINGTON, WV (AP) — Officials say a former employee of a West Virginia nonprofit organization has pleaded guilty to theft of federal funds. A statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia said 69-year-old Ruth Marie Phillips of Chesapeake, Ohio, admitted on Monday that she stole funding from the River Valley Child Development Services in Huntington.

Ohio Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Gun Crime

HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Omarr Boone, 37, of Ravenna, Ohio, pleaded guilty today to being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to court documents and statements made in court, officers with the Huntington Police Department responded to a shooting at a Shell gas station on March 9, 2021. After a vehicle pursuit, Boone was placed under arrest. Officers searched his vehicle and found a stolen Smith and Wesson SD9 VE in the vehicle. Boone was prohibited from possessing a firearm under federal law because of previous felony convictions in Michigan and Ohio.

Nigerian man pleads guilty to role in Huntington-based money laundering scheme

HUNTINGTON — A Nigerian national who was indicted in April in a fraud and money laundering scheme pleaded guilty this week to conspiracy to commit money laundering. According to court documents and statements made in the plea hearing, Kenneth Ogudu, also known as Kenneth Lee, 28, a citizen of Nigeria residing in Columbus, Ohio, was involved from at least May 2019 to Oct. 8, 2020, with Kenneth Emeni, John Nassy, Romello Thorpe, Oluwagbenga Harrison, Ouluwabamishe Awolesi and others in a money laundering conspiracy that took place in Huntington and elsewhere.
