Dual County Pursuit Leads to Felony Arrest

Around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Wapello Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Spruce Street and Highway 61 on a 2005 Buick Century driven by 30-year-old Timothy Dickinson of Davenport. Dickinson pulled into Brown’s Towing and attempted to enter the business before returning to the vehicle. He then refused to stop and his window was shattered by the officer deploying an ASP. The officer was injured. Dickinson then led the Wapello Police Department, Louisa County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Transportation on a chase reaching speeds in excess of 110MPH over a 15 mile stretch on Highway 61. During the chase, Dickinson and a female passenger were seen throwing full bottles of pop out of the car at officers.

Louisa supervisors shed light on solar power

For Union County to add to their research and needs if to allow solar power generation, they can look at the other side of Iowa for an example. Three months ago, Clenera energy company turned on its solar-power generator near Wapello that converts the sun’s rays into 127.5 megawatts of power. Located in Louisa County, the project was about two years in the making. Clēnera acquires, develops, builds and manages commercial-scale solar farms and energy storage facilities in the United States.

Louisa County Conservation Welcomes Summer with Outdoor Programming

Temperatures have heated up in southeast Iowa and the calendar will turn officially to Summer later this month. Louisa County Conservation is celebrating the change in seasons with outdoor activities. Summer Rec is coming to Academy Park in Grandview this Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon each day. They will also host the program in Morning Sun at Locust Grove Park June 21st through the 25th from 9a.m. to noon each day. This program is free and open to kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. The theme is “Animal Olympics,” giving kids a chance to play games, make crafts and explore the outdoors.

Man faces felony charges after high speed chase

WAPELLO – A high speed chase into Muscatine County by Wapello police officers ended in an accident and felony charges for a convicted sex offender who led the chase. According to a press release from the police department, at about 7:33 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, officers conducted a traffic stop near Spruce Street and Highway 61 on a 2005 Buick Century for multiple traffic violations. The vehicle abruptly pulled into a local business and the driver, identified as Timothy Dickinson, 30, of Davenport, a registered sex offender, attempted to enter the business. Dickinson then returned to the vehicle and attempted to back up, nearly striking a Wapello Police cruiser.
