A quick note from a woman asking for help during a stop at a convenience store leads to the arrest of a Gypsum man. Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan tells KSAL News that 46-year-old T.J. Meadows was taken into custody by Kansas State Troopers on Friday evening near Park City after his 35-year-old girlfriend scratched out a note for help – and handed it to an employee at the Casey’s General Store in Canton.

Byron Center, MI – The 51th annual Ms. Wheelchair America National Competition will be held in Grand Rapids, MI from August 13 – 21, 2022 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. Throughout the week women, representing states across the country, will be judged based on their ability to make a difference for the more than 56 million Americans living with disabilities. The competition will culminate with a Crowning Gala on August 20, 2022 where Ms. Wheelchair America 2023 will be crowned.

GYPSUM - A Gypsum man was arrested on multiple requested charges, including kidnapping and aggravated battery after an incident Friday afternoon that ended in Park City. Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning that Theodore Clovis Meadows, Jr., 46, of Gypsum, and a 35-year-old rural Saline County woman were at Meadows' residence in Gypsum Friday afternoon when Meadows said he wanted to go to Wichita. The woman said she didn't want to go, so Meadows allegedly told her that they should go to the pop machine in downtown Gypsum to get something to drink and discuss the trip. The woman agreed, but Meadows didn't stop his 2005 Ford F150 in downtown Gypsum and instead headed south to Canton.

The Abilene City Commission met for a regular meeting yesterday afternoon. The commission voted on five items, approving four and disapproving one. First, the commission approved an ordinance amending city code pertaining to the code of procedure for city meetings. Marsh said city staff wanted to update the code, which is chapter 1 section 110 to match the code created and recommended by the League of Kansas Municipalities. The city’s code of procedure currently mirrors the league’s first edition from 2004. The league’s most recent edition is the fourth, created in 2017. The ordinance will be available on the city’s website.

A threat made on social media leads to the arrest of an 18-year-old Salina man. Patrol Captain David Villanueva tells KSAL News that Joseph T. Moran was taken into custody on Saturday after police were notified of a threat Moran had made against a 43-year-old man in the 600 block of Gypsum.

Wilbur Dean Beemer, formerly of Carlton KS passed away July 28, 2022 in Tucson AZ. Wilbur was born September 29, 1929, to Lottie and Leslie Beemer. After graduating from Chapman High School, he began farming and later went in to heavy equipment work where he built ponds (his favorite, and often quite creative), terraces and waterways. On August 8, 1948 he married Lola Marie Meyer. They raised two children, a son Von and daughter Barbara.
