Two Children Killed in Chimayó (NM) House Fire

Dec. 5—CHIMAYÓ — Neighbors described confusion, chaos and then sorrow after a predawn house fire killed two children Saturday in normally quiet Chimayó. “I saw the commotion; I didn’t know what was going on,” Celine Vigil, who lives across the street and two doors down, said during an interview shortly after noon. “But then I saw the firetrucks, and I did open the door to kind of look at the road.”

Catalytic converter thefts up across New Mexico

SANTA FE – It’s a crime that can take minutes, leave your vehicle running poorly, harm the environment and cost thousands to replace the stolen part. The theft of catalytic converters has seen an increase in Santa Fe and other communities, said Lt. David Webb of the Santa Fe Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Section.

SF Archdiocese set to hold web auction for 427 parcels of land

A live auction website will open Jan. 3 listing 427 parcels of land in 16 counties around the state owned by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. The zoning classifications of the parcels include residential, commercial and special use. They have been organized into 80 total offerings, some sold individually and some in packages, according to Louis B. Fisher III, national director for SVN Auction Services, the court-appointed firm managing the auction for the archdiocese.

Interim chief steps up at Santa Fe Police Department

Deputy Chief Paul Joye is running the Santa Fe Police Department on an interim basis, but whether he will keep the job for the long run remains an open question.
