Lordsburg woman loses wedding ring set downtown

DEMING - A Lordsburg woman is heart-broken over the loss of her wedding rings. On Wednesday, Priscilla Talavera and her husband, Tommy, visited the Sounds Good Café in the heart of Deming's downtown business district. "We love coming to Deming. The businesses are great and the people are so nice," Priscilla told the Headlight while fighting back tears.

Here’s a look at some local news brought to you by Silver City Radio. In Gila National Forest news, as of 6:00 A.M. this morning, the Black Fire has covered 296,895 acres with 45% containment. A total of 905 personnel is working the fire. According to the U.S Forest Service, as the Southwestern monsoon season draws nearer, thunderstorms are forecast for the next few days. These storms will increase relative humidity levels but are also expected to bring strong, gusty wind and dry lightning. In addition, a new fire camp is being established to the east of Hillsboro and the fire camps in Winston and Kingston will be closed. This allows for firefighters working in this area to have a shorter drive time, thereby providing safety for our firefighters. There is a Black Fire Community Meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Black Range Lodge Hall in Kingston. Here’s a look at some local news brought to you by Silver City Radio. In Gila National Forest news, at the time of this report today, the Black Fire has covered 191,459 acres with 13% containment. The U.S. Forest Service Gila National Forest is reminding the public that Stage 2 fire restrictions are in effect. When outdoors, you may use stoves or grills equipped with a shut-off valve and fueled by petroleum but no open fires, even in recreation sites or campgrounds. In addition, the Gomez Peak pavilion as well as the group sites located within Little Walnut picnic area are also restricting open fires. For the most current information on the Black Fire, call 575-249-1264 from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
