LEWIS COUNTY, N.Y. (WWTI) — A Carthage woman has died following a roll-over crash in Lewis County on November 6. According to a press release from New York State Police, officers responded to the one-vehicle roll-over crash on Deer Road in the town of Denmark. State police determined at the scene that a 2016 GMC Terrain operated by 31-year-old Emily S. Ashline from Carthage was traveling eastbound when she lost control on a curve in the roadway.

TOWN OF DENMARK — A Jefferson County woman was killed when her SUV went off Deer River Road in Lewis County Saturday night. State police said Emily S. Ashline, 31, of Carthage, was eastbound at about 10:30 p.m. when she lost control of her 2016 GMC Terrain on a curve. Troopers said the SUV crossed over the oncoming lane, hit a barbed wire fence and several wooden fence posts, then crossed back over the eastbound lane and went off the south shoulder.

LEWIS COUNTY, N.Y. (WWTI) — On October 11 a Forest Ranger with the Department of Environmental Conservation helped rescue a hiker with a head injury along the Moose River. According to a press release from the DEC, Forest Ranger Hanno overheard radio traffic and responded to the location where the injured 65-year-old hiker was. He assisted the Port Leyden Fire Department and Lewis County Search and Rescue at the scene.

Genito III, 21, of Croghan, was northbound on Erie Canal Road at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday when his 2005 Dodge pickup went off the roadway. Deputies said the truck hit a tree and overturned, throwing Genito from the vehicle.

The release states that 43-year-old Walter Eagan was traveling south on a 2002 Yamaha Grizzly 660 with 26-year-old Joshua Streeter as a rear passenger when they struck a tree limb that had fallen into the trail.
