Ellison’s Celebrate 50 Years of Marriage

Francis and Nancy Ellison will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a family get together. The couple were married June 12, 1971 in Kahoka, MO. They were blessed with a son, James (Tammy) and a daughter, Mary (deceased), who joined a brother John (Jerilyn). They have nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Francis is retired from Ellison Service and Nancy retired from Lewis County C-1 Schools where she was an art instructor.

Former Knox County Prosecutor Sworn-In to Office as Lewis County Judge

Judge Corey Moon Officially Sworn-In – New Lewis County Associate Circuit Judge Corey Moon was sworn-in to office on Friday afternoon, May 14, 2021, at the Lewis County Courthouse by Second Circuit Presiding Judge Russell Steele. Judge Moon was appointed to fill the vacated seat of Judge Fred Westhoff by Governor Mike Parson earlier this month. Judge Moon, 32, is one of the youngest judges in the State of Missouri. Shawn Walling Named CEO/General Manager for Lewis County REC

The Board of Directors for Lewis County REC has hired Shawn Walling to be the next CEO/General Manager for the Cooperative. Shawn comes to Lewis County REC from Lee County Electric Cooperative in Florida, where he served as Manager of Substations, Communications, and Metering. Shawn received his Engineering Degrees from the University of Arkansas and his MBA from Oklahoma Wesleyan University. His 20-year work experience has included working in Generation, Transmission, and Distribution. Most of his career has been spent working for Electric Cooperatives in Arkansas, Florida, and Oklahoma. Shawn was raised in Salem, Arkansas, where his father and grandfather also worked in the Electric Cooperative system.

Thelma Ball Remembered

The name of Jerry Ball's wife. Thelma Ball, was incorrect, in a recent article honoring Jerry Ball. The Jerry Ball relays recently returned to Highland on April 13. For many years the track and field event had been held at Highland and then was moved to Culver-Stockton College because of their updated track facilities. The Highland track and football field were refurbished a few years ago and with the new track and field the Jerry Ball relays have returned home. Superintendent John French honored Jerry Ball recently during the Jerry Ball relays and an article was printed in the Press-News Journal.
