Despite a few days’ delay, Red Velvet Bakery and Little Beast Bistro are now set to open at Reston Town Center West on Saturday (September 18). Initially planning to open earlier this week, owner Aaron Gordon tells Reston Now they “weren’t quite ready” but doors will open at Red Velvet at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Quickway Japanese Hibachi, a fast-casual restaurant serving Asian dishes, has opened its doors in Sterling. It’s the first Loudoun County location for the regional brand. Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A Maryland man who won a $50,000 lottery prize said the winning ticket nearly ended up being thrown in the trash before he realized it was a winner. The 50-year-old Waldorf man, who chose to remain anonymous, told Maryland Lottery officials he bought a Fast Play Lucky Numbers ticket from the US Fuel gas station in Waldorf and initially believed it to be a losing ticket.

Stop for gas earns Maryland woman a $50,000 lottery prize

Sept. 16 (UPI) -- A Maryland woman said the arrival of her paycheck and a near-empty gas tank led to her winning a $50,000 lottery prize. Brandy Hartman of Aberdeen told Maryland Lottery officials she and her husband stopped at the Royal Farms store in Aberdeen to fill up their gas tank, and while inside the store she decided to spend some of the paycheck she just received to play lottery games.
