Trostad Promoted to Director of Operations at Summers Manufacturing

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — Summers Manufacturing has promoted Jeremy Trostad to Director of Operations. He will now support the production and engineering departments to help achieve company objectives. This includes working with staff and leadership to develop strategies for improving employee safety, customer quality management, facility productivity, cost reduction and product development.

Virgil Herald, 66 of the Spirit Lake Nation, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Eventide Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services for Virgil will be on Wednesday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. at the Tekakwitha Center in St. Michael, ND with Reverend Paul Schuster officiating. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 10:00 a.m. from City Plaza in Devils Lake.

Local family helping a lamb with disabilities in journey to Vermont sanctuary

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – A family that lives out near Edmore and Langdon, ND, has taken on the challenge to help a lamb out with disabilities and getting it to a sanctuary in Vermont. The lamb named ‘Llama Llama’ was born in February and unfortunately it’s ears and back legs were frozen.

Bitcoin mining company to convert Cold War-era military installation into $500m data center

Bitcoin mining company Bitzero Blockchain will acquire and redevelop the historic Stanley R. Mickelsen Safeguard Complex at Nekoma, N.D., commonly known as “The Pyramid.”. Bitzero plans to develop the abandoned Cold War–era military installation into a highly secure data center for high-performance computing and data processing. Waste heat captured from the data center’s servers will be used to heat an on-site greenhouse, and the company also is planning an interpretive center and additional community engagement at the site, representing a total expected investment estimated by Bitzero at $500 million.

Devils Lake Park Board hosts community forum to gain opinion toward family fun center

DEVILS LAKE – Instead of hockey pucks and ice skaters, Quentin N. Burdick Sports Arena housed sticky tabs and more than two dozen community members Thursday evening. The Devils Lake Park Board hosted a community forum at the ice rink on July 28. The forum allowed community members and the Devils Lake Park Board to voice their opinion on future facilities and activities that could go into a family fun center.
