PAULSBORO, N.J. (CBS) -- The mystery of the strange, strong odor that overwhelmed parts of South Jersey on Wednesday afternoon has been solved. A hazmat situation was declared in Gloucester County after officials say a rotten egg smell was reported. Gloucester County officials say the odor came from a tractor-trailer at a truck stop in East Greenwich. They say a trailer containing about 7,000 gallons of a chemical called Lubrizol was venting and causing the smell. It is not a natural gas leak. Tractor trailer crashes into bridge on Route 420 in Prospect Park
PROSPECT PARK, Pa. (CBS) -- A bridge in Prospect Park has been a trouble spot for trucks for years. Now, another driver hit it on Wednesday.You can see the truck caused significant damage when it crashed into the Amtrak overpass.Right now, Route 420 is shut down between 11th and 12th Avenues until further notice.Repair work should begin around 9 p.m. Wednesday, officials say.Police tell Eyewitness News the truck driver will likely face citations.

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- The Humane Society of the United States is carrying out its largest animal rescue ever. Four thousand beagles are being removed from a Virginia breeding operation that has been accused of violating animal welfare laws.The dogs are being sent across the country to animal shelters, including Brandywine Valley SPCA.Many of the dogs were set to be sold to labs for experiments."Four thousand is a big number and it's going to take 60 days to get all of these animals out," Kitty Bloc, CEO of the Humane Society of the United States, said, "and working with our shelter and rescue partners across the country, working with them to get these dogs eventually into ever-loving homes."Brandywine Valley SPCA plans to take 20 of the beagles as early as Friday but won't be ready for adoption for a while.

Wilmington Police Arrest Claymont Man, Two Guns Seized
WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a Claymont man on gun charges. Authorities state that on July 29 at approximately 1:06 p.m., members of the Street Crimes Unit conducted a vehicle stop in the 400 block of North Monroe Street. Police made contact with an occupant, 21-year-old Malik Winters of Claymont. Following a brief investigation, police recovered two (2) loaded 9mm handguns.
