West Nile Virus makes its 2021 appearance in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Almost one week after Nebraska recorded its first West Nile Virus-positive mosquito of the year, a person has tested positive for the virus. As it turns out, they’re on opposite sides of the state. The mosquito was trapped near Scottsbluff, and the person comes from an area of the state that includes Burt, Cuming, Madison, and Stanton Counties.

Thomson receives July Heart of 4-H Award

Lancaster County 4-H has named Marti Thomson of Palmyra winner of the July Heart of 4-H Award in recognition of outstanding volunteer service. A volunteer for seven years, Thomson is currently co-leader of the Sew Green 4-H club, which focuses on sewing and community service.
