Sheriff Webre Announces Plans for “Click It or Ticket” Campaign

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is joining other local law enforcement agencies in participating in the Click It or Ticket campaign which runs from May 23 through June 5, 2022. The campaign is coordinated and funded by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Chef John Folse Culinary Institute gets $10,000 donation to help recover after Ida's damages

The Chef John Folse Culinary Institute just got a $10,000 donation to help the college recover from the impacts of Hurricane Ida. The Republic National Distributing Company made the donation, which will be used to repair and replace some equipment that was lost or damaged due to the storm. It will also help the Culinary Institute maintain and enhance its facilities.

Hurricane season is just around the corner. The 2022 season will begin Wednesday, June 1 and continue through Wednesday, November 30, with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasting a range of 14 to 21 named storms. The National Hurricane Center deemed the 2022 season to be “above-normal” with an expected six out of 10 storms to become hurricanes with winds of 74 miles per hour.

Nearly 9 months after Hurricane Ida, first responders bracing for new storm season

GRAND ISLE, La. - A town nearly obliterated by Hurricane Ida's path last year, Grand Isle was slammed by more than 10 feet of storm surge. "It was horrific. When that roof, peeled up and the water started coming in, I said 'guys, this could be it. If the rest of the roof comes off, we could be in trouble,'" Grand Isle Chief Scooter Resweber recalled. "Our wind gauge broke at 148 miles an hour sustained. It stopped working completely."
