Wildlife underpasses being built in Western Wyoming

Construction is continuing on the first of nine highway underpasses to be built in western Wyoming that will reduce the number of wildlife-vehicle collissions. The Dry Piney wildlife crossing project, in the Marbleton area is a cooperative effort by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the Wyoming Department of Transportation. It is projected to be finished by October of next year, with phase one being complete this year.

Painted Kettle zoning error corrected

MARBLETON – The Marbleton Town Council took last steps to return The Painted Kettle’s building to its correct commercial zoning after a map error was discovered. The cafe is in a building on a separate lot belonging to the Rob’s Roost RV Park, which is zoned residential- mobile home park. When town maps were digitized, the smaller lot’s boundary was mistakenly zoned with the other, leading town staff to think Painted Kettle owner Rendy Thomson needed a variance to have a business in the mobile home-residential-zoned building.

Union says Big Piney broadband almost complete

SUBLETTE COUNTY – Union Wireless’s broadband availability in Big Piney is 90-percent complete with just the Big Piney schools remaining, according to its representative. Brian Woody told the Big Piney Town Council at its meeting Tuesday, July 19, that Union will be working with the schools’ fiber-optic.

Woman tased in Marbleton arrest

SUBLETTE COUNTY – A Marbleton woman was arrested late on July 4 after deputies responded to two calls about her alleged actions that day. Chelsey M. Smith was charged July 5 with misdemeanors of reckless endangering, criminal trespass, interference with a peace officer, breach of peace and property destruction. She was also charged with violating a protection order, records show.

Big Piney Man Arrested after Another Man Was Assaulted Behind a Pinedale Bar

PINEDALE — A 25-year-old Big Piney man was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault after another man was injured behind the Cowboy Bar in Pinedale. On July 10 at around midnight, Sublette County dispatch received a call about a male subject who was injured behind the Cowboy Bar in Pinedale. The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office and Sublette County EMS responded to find two off-duty EMS staff on scene already tending to the injured male. He was transported to the Pinedale Medical Clinic and was later flown to EIRMC in Idaho Falls for further care, according to a press release from the SCSO.

Hospital District holds special meeting

The Sublette County Hospital District convened for a special meeting on Tuesday, July 12, to discuss renewing contracts for providers at the Pinedale and Marbleton-Big Piney clinics. Following an executive session, the trustees present voted to extend contracts for Cori Anderson, physician assistant, Ryan Grove, physician assistant, Keri Hull, nurse practitioner, Jason Ray, physician assistant and Dr. Buck Wallace.
