Traci Burke, 33, of Lee Charles St., Franklin, LA, was arrested on June 17, 2020, at 6:56 AM, on two warrants dated June 11, 2020, for obstruction of justice and extortion. Burke was booked, processed, and released on a $5,000.00 bond.

Early Voting Begins June 20 For Presidential Preference Primary And Municipal Primary

BATON ROUGE, La.—Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin is encouraging all eligible Louisianians to consider voting early in the Presidential Preference Primary. Early voting begins Saturday, June 20 and continues through Saturday, July 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, excluding Sunday, June 21 and Sunday, June 28. Pursuant to the Emergency Election Plan, the early voting period has been extended by six days.

Sheriff’s Gun Range Closed Wednesday For Training

The Sheriff’s Gun Range at the John I. Kahl Training Center will be closed Wednesday, June 18, for training. The Range will reopen on Friday at 9 am. Whenever the range is closed for any purpose, we will post that information here on our Facebook page the day before the closing.

Man Arrested Following Standoff In Thibodaux On Tuesday

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported a fugitive sought by the U.S. Marshals Service has been apprehended following a standoff in Thibodaux on Tuesday afternoon. Yacub Williams, 35, was taken into custody in the Marydale community following a standoff that lasted nearly four hours.

Louisiana ranks second worst in study identifying the safest states in U.S.

Louisiana came in second lowest in a new study by the WalletHub website that examines safety risks facing residents of each of the 50 states, based on five key dimensions. Louisiana earned a total score of 32.53 in the study by the personal finances website, with the maximum score set at 100. Examples of safety risks in the analysis included health concerns about the coronavirus pandemic and fears about natural disasters, terrorism and road safety.

Civil, Criminal, Traffic and Juvenile Cases Continued through June 26 by City Court of Morgan City

Due to CDC Guidelines – The City Court of Morgan City has announced that all Civil, Criminal, Traffic and Juvenile cases have been continued effective immediately through Friday, June 26, 2020. If you have an arraignment, trial, due date or review on June 16, June 18, June 23 or June 25, these court appearances will be continued. Those trials, hearings, arraignments and due date court appearances are continued with the exception of 72 hour hearings, arraignments for incarcerated persons and bond hearings. We will start court again on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. Please call the Clerk’s Office to get your new court date or a notice will be mailed to your last address on your booking sheet or traffic ticket. It is your responsibility to contact the Clerk’s Office with a current address.

Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests:. of Tiffany Dr. Patterson, LA, was arrested on Monday, June 15, 2020, at 11:37PM on the following charges:. On Monday, June 15, 2020, at 11:23PM, officers responded to the 200 block of Oregon St. for a disturbance in progress. While en route, the caller indicated that the man was now hitting on a female inside of the residence. Throughout the course of the investigation, officers learned that Notto entered the residence without permission and committed a battery upon the victim. Notto was placed under arrest and booked into the Berwick Jail with no bond set.
