Weekend Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests

–A traffic stop early Saturday morning near downtown Algona resulted in a pair of drug related arrests. According to the Algona Police Department, Officers conducted the stop around 12AM Saturday near the intersection of Phillips and State Streets. After conducting a brief investigation, Officers arrested 46-year-old Tony Lee Jorgensen of Humboldt on a valid Kossuth County Warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance-3rd offense, a Class D Felony.

Minor Injuries Reported in Two-Vehicle Collision in Kossuth County

(Swea City) – Minor injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision in northern Kossuth County Sunday afternoon. The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office says at around 4 p.m., 86-year-old Mervin Johnson of Armstrong was traveling westbound on 480th Street in a 2014 Ford F-150 Supercrew Truck. Johnson had stopped at the intersection with County Road P20, about 5 miles northwest of Swea City. As Johnson entered the intersection, his vehicle was struck by a southbound 2019 Kia Sorento, driven by Lisa Hardman of Algona.
